Have you ever wondered what people keep in their storage units?
According to a recent American survey, pieces of furniture were the most commonly stored items. About 1 in 3 Americans had put furniture in storage. This was followed closely by clothing. Sporting equipment, items for hobbies and business were also popular. Cars, motorhomes and boats were also often stored in units.
Closer to home in our self storage locations, we regularly help people needing storage space while they move house. Other reasons for hiring can include decorating and renovation at home, needing somewhere to store seasonal belongings such as garden furniture and clothing, bulky sports equipment, the death of a relative or simply, a general lack of space. Motorbikes and classic cars can also be safely stored in a unit.
We have seen some really unusual uses for storage. As well as people storing household items, we have had some very different businesses needing storage. When you house a circus and cabaret company for example, you sometimes see some incredible sights like this elephant (please note it isn’t real, despite being very realistic!)
