Is Self Storage Safe For My Inventory?
Yes, our self storage containers are an incredibly safe place to store your inventory and equipment, as The Space Program has an unbeatable security record since opening our first location in 2002. Between our state of the art security systems, secure storage containers and heavy-duty padlocks that are saw-proof and pick-proof – You’ll be hard pressed to find a safer location for business storage.
During opening hours, the gates are always open as our helpful staff are on patrol to keep an eye on the site and your storage. During the hours when the site is unmanned, the gates will be closed – But if you need out of hours access, you can use your unique access code to gain entry to the site and access your storage.
How Accessible Will My Storage Be?
At The Space Program your storage will always be easy for you to access whenever you need it. With your unique security code you have 24/7 access to your storage, meaning you can come and go as you please without needing a member of our team to sign you in.
In terms of physical access, once you’re in your local Space Program facility, most of our storage containers are on the ground level, meaning you can drive directly up to your storage container to load and unload your inventory or equipment – Additionally at our Weston location, we offer Forklift support for business customers who need a hand moving heavy items.
We also have an Indoor Storage facility available at our Tewkesbury location. While you can’t drive directly up to your units, we can provide trolleys to help you move your items easily from your vehicle to the facility and have lifts on site to provide you with easy access to your storage unit.
Can I Use My Storage Unit as a Distribution Hub?
Yes we have customers who use their storage container as a distribution hub for their business. You can get deliveries direct to your storage container – Or if you’re pressed for time our team can sign for deliveries and move them into your container if you’re signed up to our secure sign & store service.
Once your container is filled with inventory, you can use it as a centralised distribution hub – As all of our facilities are accessible 24/7 you can access your storage to pick up stock for deliveries or use on jobs whenever is convenient for you – And as all of our containers are ground level you can load inventory straight onto your delivery vehicle.
Can I Get Deliveries To My Storage Unit?
Yes, as a business storage customer, you can get stock delivered directly to your business’s’ self-storage container – We offer a secure sign and store service for our customers across all of our locations, where a member of our team can sign for your deliveries and lock it away safely in your self-storage unit for you.
If you choose not to sign up for our sign and store service, you can still get deliveries directly to your business’s Space Program storage unit, but you’ll just need to make sure you’re available and on-site to receive the delivery and move it to your storage container.
Will A Storage Container Be Big Enough For My Business?
One of the first questions most of our customers ask is “what size container do I need?” and at The Space Program, we have plenty of options no matter if you’re a plumber looking to store equipment, or a furniture store looking to keep large amounts of stock on site.
Depending on the individual site, we have a range of containers at all sizes from cosy 40ft² units which are comparable to a garden shed, all the way up to giant 320ft² units with the storage capacity of a large lorry, so most businesses will get by with a single unit.
If you need even more storage than our 320ft² units, you can look at renting multiple storage containers in any combination of sizes that meet your storage requirements.
Real Business Use Cases
Over the years, we’ve helped 100’s of businesses with storage to help them grow their business, here are just a few success stories from our clients over recent years.
Space Program to the rescue after Claire’s business outgrows her garage
Claire Evans runs Attica-Bristol, a business refurbishing vintage industrial furniture for clients including artists, film and TV companies, and high street retailers. She started out in her garage but quickly needed more space, which is when she found an affordable and practical solution by renting a container unit at the Avonmouth Space Program, which offered far better value than city-centre options.
Claire highlights the versatility of container storage, noting how surprised visitors often are to see her operating a thriving business from one. The setup allows her to unload directly into her unit and easily move large furniture in and out thanks to the wide container doors. For her, container storage has proven to be a flexible, cost-effective base that supports the growth of her unique business.
Self-storage puts plumber Rob on the road to success
Local plumber Rob Chidley, of RJC Plumbing & Heating Services, had been storing tools and materials in his garage, van, and even friends’ garages as his business grew. The setup became disorganized and time-consuming, so he moved everything into a self-storage unit at the Weston Space Program. This gave him 24/7 access, space for deliveries without waiting around, and a central hub for his team to collect supplies.
The move streamlined his operations, freed up friends’ garages, and unexpectedly fueled rapid business growth – so much so that Rob soon outgrew his unit and moved into his own warehouse. His story shows how self-storage can provide tradespeople with a practical, flexible base that supports efficiency and expansion.
